Terminator 5: Arnie#39;s Return?Anyone else voting that they drop the price on the BlackBook to match the white MB? What are the chances, eh?
It's tough for Apple to justify the higher price to begin with, so, in their minds, why should they bother justifying a price cut? :p ;) :D

i wonder if this all started because of the damned "green revolution" which increased crop yields dramatically using petroleum based fertilisers and of course caused the population to explode globally?
it makes sense in a perverse way. job growth can't keep up with population growth...
now, another awful thing is a lot of western societies have this strange sense of entitlement... that certain jobs are beneath them, so they all strive to be white collar professionals but that's completely unsustainable... this explains, in the UK at least, the gross number of students who go to university and have degrees but the poor employment prospects for graduates.
so far so bad, right?
add consumerism to the mix and it's little wonder that people are placated by taking out loans to buy things they can't afford normally. but to have these things the companies which produce them need a cheap source of labour, so they outsource, so areas which were traditionally big on manufacturing decay and shrink, the people moving to already congested mega cities.
they should teach buddhism in primary schools, it might stem the consumerist tide.
ugh, it's enough to drive anyone to suicide.

then why did apple cripple the 13" macbook pro's with ****** resolution then?
I'd take the 13" MBP screen over the 13 MBA screen every day of the week, much better quality in every way apart from the small resolution increase. The MBA screen is cheap and nasty (yes I owned both, sold the 2010 Air to buy the 2011 13 MBP)

In Virginia, to posses an Armed Security Guard license, you must take a 40-hour (five-day) course.
There's a place where I live that does the training. They use M4A1 rifles and M9 pistols in the course, which are both required for certification as an armed security guard.
hisarnold schwarzeneggerHow does streaming music to my iPhone help me, when O2 cap my Internet usage, and then charge when you use more.
Just another option. Might not be a solution for you (nor me) but I can see the advantage for some people.
Arnold SchwarzeneggerRegardless of how you feel about Oprah she does have some clout. She actually got adults to read (remember her book club). In addition she could get lots of her watchers to buy a song on itunes simply by mentioning it on her show. And don't forget that iTunes also sells audiobooks.
One mention on Oprah about how if you buy this song/audiobook in the next week and 10% will go for the AIDS cause could be good for Apple/iTunes.
One last thought....
Oprah + Nike + iTunes (Apple) = lots of Oprah viewers downloading suggested files and then exercising.
Just thinking out loud I guess.

To those clamoring for a matte option I feel your pain but our time is long gone. I bought a Mac Pro just so I could use matte screen because my underdeveloped eyes couldn't get used to "looking past reflections" on the new iMac (which I sold in less than a year)
Perhaps not though. Apple dropped the matte display on the Macbook Pro only to bring it back again.
I know more than a few people who find the reflection issue horrendous, and in my opinion it goes against the PRO "user-experience" in exchange for the consumer "user-experience" Apple is so proud of, meaning brighter, more saturated colors.
Apple even puts fake reflections in their ads.

Just hope they don't decide to redesign the iMac the beginning of next year like they plan to do with the Macbooks.
Neither will be redesigned next year. Look at the length of time Apple stuck with the previous design. There are still a few years left to this "look."
When do you estimate they will come out with the redesigned exterior?

Nude Arnold SchwarzeneggerI don't care what it is, just give us something new to talk about. Mac Pro really nice machine but we saw it coming months in advance. Maybe not he exact spec but yeah we all knew it was coming. Same with Merom, Conroe etc... Give us something new, really new. All we have had for what seems like an age is Intel switch this Intel switch that. I don't care what processor they use as long as they are faster than they were before and it's still a Mac. I want nay, need a new product - something so I know that Apple are still innovating. Switching to Intel, no innovation there just good sense.
Stop reading forums and rumor sites, and everything will be news to you..

I have to disagree. Rogue Amoeba in *no way* violated Trademark or Copyright rules with this. In fact, they used Apple's own OS X APIs.

I agree with you. If they are using an image sent by Mac OS X for just such a purpose they are not doing anything wrong.
It makes me think that maybe there are some lowly app reviewers who are letting the power go to their heads.

And would the same setup work in bootcamp (ie using eyefinity)?

meh.
Arnold SchwarzeneggerApple makes the hardware, the OS, the apps, and Appstore, and APPROVES what apps consumers can purchase. No...that's not a monopoly. No, sir.
But its a monopoly that works, and that is why people buy it. People buy the experience, and while its wrapped in a monopoly paper, people love that. Computer has become more of a social experience than a nerd experience.

People have said that a media device that will bing the iPod to the home TV.
but isnt this what the Stereo Connection Kit with Universal Dock and Remote.
it was the cables to connect your video ipod up to your TV.
This the more expensive version of that, except that is HD. Umm I wonder if you can steal the movie by picking up the stream from the air? LOL there goes DRM.
If it takes several hours to download a movie over the Internet....... How do I transmit the same movie over 802.11g in 2 hours or less to my tv?
Stick to the cables, you need 802.11n minimum to do this and it will kill your home network. Nobody else at home can do anything else.

Apple and Creative have resolved their legal disputes (http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2006/aug/23settlement.html) which started on May 15th of this year when Creative and Apple sued each other (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/05/20060519080315.shtml) claiming patent infringement. According to a joint-press release, Apple will pay Creative $100 million USD to settle all outstanding lawsuits.
"Creative is very fortunate to have been granted this early patent," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "This settlement resolves all of our differences with Creative, including the five lawsuits currently pending between the companies, and removes the uncertainty and distraction of prolonged litigation."
It's not really an original idea. Lala was doing this last year, until Apple bought them and shut them down.
Oh, I never knew much about lala so thanks.
I'm hoping we don't see Apple adopting the HD Intel Graphics, cuz they are going to suck as far as gaming goes..
The current iMacs use discrete ATI Radeon GPUs.
Since the newly released MacBook Pros also include ATI Radeons, it is likely that Apple would continue this trend with the next batch of iMacs.
You needn't worry.

Looking at the figures right now anyone can easily see that iOS is not the dominating platform. Not even the second most popular (which is Symbian), but does anyone really care ? Same case with the Macs and Mac OS X.
I would really like to see Microsoft step up the game because in the end, we customers are the ones receiving most benefit.
I had been a loyal Windows user (up to Windows 7) when I switched to Mac last year. My take is that Windows and its creators are not technically inferior to Mac OS and Apple, but their corporate philosophy has never sported the acumen and, guess what, common sense with which Steve Jobs creates such reliable, handsome products.
If this is a product called showtime, that could be a Bad Thing (tm). A media application that has the same name as the movie channel? Sounds like grounds for a trademark lawsuit to me. Mighty Mouse is a little harder to cause consumer confusion: one's an computer mouse, the other is a cartoon character. But a movie software application and a movie channel? hmmmmm....
I don't think there will be anything with that name.
Apple did just very recently file for a new iMovie trade mark in Europe, through Italy. They already had the name registered in 2000/2001. This new application is from 22 August, and no real details are currently published.
