You do realize DVD itself is heavily DRMed, although its CSS is easily cracked. Its Macrovision protection is flawed, and regional coding can be circumvented.
If iTS movie DRM can be cracked, would it make it a better value for you? Why are we even comparing it to DVDs? If you wish to have the convenience of portable digital downloads, then it is a great service.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Workout:By that argument, aren't windows and office generic terms???
Aren't Pages, Apple, and Safari generic terms?
Only in the software industry. These are all generic terms outside of the realm of software, but in software they are patentable.
It'd be like Apple or Microsoft trying to call their next OS "Operating System" and trying to patent it, or trying to release a piece of software called "Internet Browser" and trying to patent that.
Arnold SchwarzeneggerSo it seems that the OP may be a liar or have memory recall issues, considering the inconsistences found in his prior posts. Is there a MR rule for that?
Arnold SchwarzeneggerMight want to do a little research:
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2380954,00.asp
Why? All that article says is manufacturers can add TB, not that the will.
Everyone was free to add Firewire too. Look how well that went over.
Arnold Schwarzenegger...Since Intel announced that their four core chips would be available in the last quarter there is another possibility now for Mac Pros: Just Conroe chips for the "low end" replacing the dual core G5s, and the quad core G5 remains the last PowerPC until it is replaced in the last quarter with a much cheaper quad core system based on Intel's Kentsfield quad core desktop chip. Depends on how urgent it is for Apple to finish the transition.
Better be careful. I posted a similar idea in another thread and got flamed by a couple antagonistic people who have limited vision and are knashing for Woodcrest. I'm in agreement with you. I think having Conroes in the middle and lowend to replace the currently shipping Powermacs is feasible for Apple. Keep the G5 Quad until Kentsfield and maybe introduce a 3.0 Quad Woodcrest on the high-end workstation model to start a new professional line?
I can see why folks are clamoring for Woodcrest, but to me it seems a bit weird for Apple to adopt a chipset for 6 months or less. With Kentsfield shipping at the end of the year, why bother with Woodcrest now? If they would have begun selling last month when they first came out it would have made more sense. Now I'm thinking Apple is going to hold off simply because they haven't announced anything. Woodcrest has been out for around a month now, if Apple is/was going to use them, what's the hold up? I think they have been waiting for Conroe, not WWDC.
Arnold SchwarzeneggerClose, Manic Mouse. I dont understand people's belief that every Intel chip made has to go into an Apple machine. I doubt the Conroe will be used in any Mac nor the Kentsfield. The range is covered, and I'm sick of these silly rumors of Mac mid towers.
There wont be a mid tower, not now, not "Next Tuesday".
Conroe is intels best bang for the buck. It would be stupid for apple not to use it, and go with chips that are slower and more expensive instead. But apple still does some things that are stupid.
I still think we'll see a mid tower, or at least some mac with conroe. Tommorow? Probably not, but who knows?
Arnold+schwarzenegger+nowthe first time i voted "negative", because i'm tired of those phone rumors.
buddy was round for aBetween Samsung on the hardware and Google on the software, I can't believe anyone in their right mind actually saying with a straight face that the Samsung phone in question is not stealing from Apple. Get a grip.

What else, could it be??

99% of these are in a huff self important 'tempest in a teapot' stories;
its not required-nay not even helpful to be a fanboy to point this out-just 2 good eyes and a brain;
Alway been complainers, always will be;
If the rules are clearly spelled out and they dont follow them-then they shouldnt be crybabies in public
simple
CAREFULLY read APPLEs developers rules
follow them
dont try to breach them
Amen! You are on the dot! Everyone (including developers) complain about their app not getting approved for one reason or another, and yet it's always because they breached the Developers Guide for the App Store. Just ******** get a printer and print the damn pdf out. Then, step two, READ it. Then, before you go and submit the app, use it yourself and see if it follows the guidelines.
It's like high school, when the teacher gives you a RUBRIC to FOLLOW, when you FAIL, it's because you didn't follow it. So shut up, or nut up. And build a better app. Hopefully one that doesn't say "that's what she says".
Arnold SchwarzeneggerDon't get me wrong, I would welcome a new enclosure but I think that allowing the prospect of one to be the determining factor in the purchase of a machine is ridiculous. As much as I would LOVE to have a gunmetal colored mbp, if it came out tomorrow I wouldn't be upset that I have a silver one because I truly do love my machine. Apple will always continue to innovate and release new products, and IMO now that they're using intel chips the rate of obsolescence will increase (in terms of harware and performance more than appearance).
To get a new design and enclosure is always nice. Apple has been doing amazing designs in the past years. For sure new enclosures will look nice.
The thing is, at this time after the whole Intel transition, all the current enclosures stayed the same (except few changes on Macbook). So, I would not expect anything different anytime soon. I think the current look is great in all Apple hardware line up. The only place I thought it could have a change was on the MacPro, because the G5 needed such a large enclosure. Apple responded keeping the same design and just adding more features that before was not possible under the G5 chip. That makes me believe they will keep the same enclosures for awhile.
I agreed that subtle improvements are welcome and they probably will happen. But if people are making their buying decision based on a new look coming soon, I think they will wait quite a bit and get disappoint.
Arnold SchwarzeneggerI was going to ask what the D stands for but I guess that's kind of obvious.
Arnold Schwarzenegger: SpeedoThis is bogus. Next thing you know, our Gov'mint will start asking companies to stop selling radar detectors, because people will speed and kill others. Drunks go around these stops anyway--they're not effective. All they do is cause good citizens to be held up. How about the day I rolled through one of these and ended up paying a huge late fee to kid's daycare? The run them at 9PM, when no one is drunk! I'm going to download these apps just out of convenience so I don't have to be slowed down and I should be able to have this information available to me.

But as I said, for HOME viewing, is there a precedent for ads?
certainly not if you own the content. cds don't have ads, but radio does.

With people putting off for the "next big thing" I wonder how many people will end up buying nothing ;)
im sure lots of people will keep on waiting and waiting

iTunes Movie Store should be rental only.
If you really love a movie, go out and buy it. This way, you have the physical copy to carry around with you where ever you want to watch it (living room, friend's house, car, ect)
I think the notion that Apple is trying to get is like this senerio:
Somebody who is bored on a Friday night with nothing better to do, who does not feel like driving out to the local video rental store. Howabout being able to download it on your computer for $4.99 for a 5 day rental.
I would probably pay that. Apple figures if you want decent quality, hook your Mac Mini up to your HDTV and play it off there. If not, just watch it on your Mac.
If you copy it to an iPod, the movie will expire in 5 days as well. Or, it will expire next time you connect your iPod to iTunes. (people HAVE to do that!)
We'll probably see Front Row 2.0 as well.
Just some thoughts....
Arnold SchwarzeneggerI can't believe 7200 rpm HD is standard. WOW
vs Arnold SchwarzeneggerIs the Program to read it Mac only or is there a PC version??

A Mac is a Personal Computer (PC), so is a desktop running some Linux flavor.

One step closer to the MacBook Air update.
Weren't they just updated in October? Yes it may be closer, but not for a while yet considering the last update was over a year.
Microsoft doesn't really play in the consumer / gadget / toy market, which simply means that you don't get to see most of their products unless you work in a corporate data center.
Of course they play in the consumer / gadget / toy market.
Zune, Kin, Xbox.
They are just not particularly successful in these markets, despite pouring a lot of money into them.
A Movie Store would be great in theory, but as I've said before, it totally depends on how Apple structures it. Selection, compression, encoding, file sizes, txfer times, aspect ratios, cost/movie, etc. etc. Also, at the end of the day it doesn't matter in some respects since I'm in Canada and can't access the service regardless. :p ;)
Past this Movie Store though, Merom MacBooks are definitely due, and the Mac minis have to be right around the corner too, since they're still using Core Solo, let alone Core Duo and now Core 2 Duo. And, of course, that leaves the good old iMac as well - it would be nice to see it get a nice refresh with Conroe.

This is hardly a rumour, more just pointing out the obvious. What I want is
Likely:
SB i5 quad processor in the 21
 Thunderbolt
GPU upgrade (although I would like something at least as powerful as 5770)
Unlikely
 2 HDs standard, 1 x 64GB SSD, 1 x 1TB HD availabe for 21"
 2560 x 1440 resolution available for 21
 Blu-ray
Think the design will be the same, this time around. Re-design next time with Lion pre-installed and maybe, just maybe a touch screen
