Interesting, this was less than a year ago.
Steve Jobs "...we take privacy very seriously. As an example, we worry a lot about location in phones..."
arnold schwarzeneggerI'm not picky...All I want is a new iMac of some sort, whether it be 23" or 50", I just want a iMac, PLEASE!!! I'm crossing my fingers...
Although, a Movie Store could be SWEET!
iron arnold schwarzeneggerThey do build in obsolescence into the ipod as you can't replace the battery (easily). It does become a disposable item, although a pricey one at that. I do love the ipod (even though I don't own one) but this puts me off to the point where I just can't go through with actually buying one. My experience with rechargeable batteries in mobile phones and lap top isn't good.
Meh, don't worry about the batteries. Sure, some people have problems, but my 3G ipod is still doing surprisingly well! It may have lost a little bit of charge since I bought it but it still lasts at least 7 hours. Maybe I'm just lucky. Or maybe it knows it needs to behave before the sweet widescreen video ipod comes out. Or else. :D
Arnold Schwarzenegger andExactly, they are technically different operating systems. But even so, just because an OS gives you access to specific images, doesn't give you the rights to take them and use them for something else. Obviously RA had to pull the image from the API and then save it to another file and use it in their iPhone application. Just because it is accessible via API doesn't mean it is free to use. The API is free to use, the data is not.
Example. You buy a CD of a song, you can play it on your CD player. You can use it all you want in your CD player, but try ripping that song off (ie copying the image from the API) and using it in a movie you're making.. Guess what, you can't.
That's not at all what happens. The api is designed to return those specific images - that's all it's for. It's like if Apple provides an API for providing directory listings, then complains because it's got a trademark on the word "library" when used in a directory structure.

Great, i hope the first thing to go is the razor sharp edge on the wrist palm edge, for long fingered fellas this thing has been a nightmare.
Arnold SchwarzeneggerApple makes money off of iTunes - they won't tell us how much, but it is a money maker (all be it insignificant compared to the iPod)
I think that you mean Apple makes money off of iTMS (iTunes Music Store). And yes, it would be interesting to know how much they really make.

There is an upside to being exempt. While it's true I don't get paid extra if I work 45 hours this week, I will also not be paid less if I work 35 hours next week. In my job one is just as likely as the other.
Arnold SchwarzeneggerWell here it is Sunday, still no official word from Apple or any other credible source confirming tuesdays launch. I just hope that this is NOT going to be a huge let down.
And hopefully when we do see this launch tuesday most people say Wow.
I hear ya. I really hope it comes out tuesday

I hope Apple releases an iPod software update so those of us who already own 5th generation iPods can take advantage of all these new features.
From what I saw in the presentation stuff, 5G iPods get everything software related; movies, gapless playback, and games.

Didn't Steve say in his keynote how long it would be until Europe got movies? I could have sworn it was October.
I think he just said "we hope to take this international in 2007" meaning tough **** you will have to wait most probably end of 2007.

I have to conclude that people who want to use their 10 year old CRT are just incredibly cheap and don't value their screens as much as being able to claim how fast their CPU is.
Maybe, with the current pace at which CPUs are improving, I would want to upgrade my CPU every 18 months but my screen only every 36 months?

if this is as slow as iDisk... no, thank you.

Is it weird to have a special event in SF on the day the Paris Expo starts?
Perhaps is just being done in conjunction with the Paris expo. That's what I gathered anyway.

Aren't intel in the process on implementing Open CL?
Arnold SchwarzeneggerAs far as the streaming video possibilities go, I think it would be cool for Apple to include the ability to "project" the entire desktop onto a remote screen, like a TV or projector. The tech is already there, and I think that kind of functionality would be that much cooler and more practical than simply streaming audio/video content. I would love to use my PB's lid-closed mode wirelessly with the TV.

Something has to happen on the 12th becuase there were reports that british press had been invited. We'll find out tomarrow coz invites usually get sent a week before.
:mad:If MacRumors didn't have a rule stating no personal attacks, I'd ream you a new *******.
And nothing could make me care as I remember the old saying "sticks and stones..." unlike our oversensitive posters. I am in no way in favor of irresponsible behavior or drunk driving, but making tasteless jokes is neither and harms nobody.

"Awesome?"
*jumps into Windows 7 in Parallels to check it out again*
"Awesome???"
Don't worry, Windows 8 will be even better. Its going to have a built in PDF reader called "Modern Reader." Too bad Linux and OSX have had built in PDF readers for a decade now. Typical Microsoft, "if you can't beat them, copy them!"
ROFLMAO
I thught was strange as well at first, but I believe that the comparison is between i5 1st gen vs 2nd gen and i7 1st gen vs 2nd gen.
Almost... From the footnote, the comparison for the first chart for the i5 model is a new (2011) 21.5" 2.7 GHz i5 iMac versus last year's 21.5" 3.2 GHz i3 iMac. The i7 chart is a new 27" 3.4 GHz i7 iMac versus last year's 27" 2.93 GHz i7 iMac.
And where in the first post from the OP did they mention 'in the Finder'?
Doesn't take a genius to work out does it? I understood him, as did plenty of others. If you wish to pointlessly nitpick in hope to make OS X's lack of basic but useful features sound negligible then so be it.
Finder lacks cut and paste. It bugs me at times too.
