As the trade deadline passed at 4:00 pm Eastern Standard Time, the New York Mets did nothing to improve the team.

So what else is new?

Rumors are that Fred Wilpom, owner of the Mets has been financially devastated by swindler and con man Barnie Madoff who is currently serving a 150 year prison term.

And to add to that miserable news, former Wilpon employees filed a lawsuit against the Mets owner for lost retirement funds that has left them with no nest egg for their retirement years.

Let me speak for all Mets fans by saying we don’t care about Fred Wilpon’s financial problems.

For far too long before the Madoff thing ever happened, Mets fans has suffered the pain of having an owner who has always operated the Mets as if he were living in Kansas City instead of New York.

We have to suffer the indignity and the taunts by Yankee fans year after year for having a team that is just good enough to be mediocre.

We are tired of this and are tired of the Wilpon regime!

Fred, I have a solution for you.

If you no longer have the financial wherewithal to compete in New York as a big market team, then sell the Mets to some other wealthy New Yorker who does.

You’ve owned the Mets for nearly 30 years and have only 1 championship to show for it. That may be better than what the Chicago Cubs have done, but it’s not good enough for Mets fans anymore.

Sell the team, repay the money you lost for your employees, and free Mets fans from the purgatory you have us all in.

Although you won’t find this reading in the Obama suck up media, I don’t see how anybody can interpret the president’s comments yesterday concerning the situation New York Rep Charlie Rangel is in facing an ethics trial as anything other than, “Resign now and go far away from here!”

Obama’s approval ratings continue to plummet thanks to his job-killing, big government policies and the last thing he needs is for Charlie Rangel to be given only a slap on the wrist despite the mountain of evidence pointing to his sleazy corruption.

Has Obama lost that much juice within the Democrat Party that his call for Rangel’s resignation as subtle as it was, falls totally on deaf ears?

Personally, I hope Rangel fights tooth and nail because it will be better than watching Snooki falling down drunk on Jersey Shore.

But, this is defiantly a rift in the Democrat Party that “state controlled” media doesn’t want to report it as such.

If Rep. Charles Rangel was looking for support from President Obama, he'd better not get his hopes up.

Obama last night called the ethics charges against Rangel "very troubling" and sharply noted that the embattled Harlem Democrat is "at the end of his career."

"I think Charlie Rangel served a very long time and served his constituents very well. But these allegations are very troubling," Obama said on the "CBS Evening News" in his first comments on the Rangel scandal.

"He's somebody who's at the end of his career. Eighty years old. I'm sure that what he wants is to be able to end his career with dignity. And my hope is that it happens."

Earlier, it was revealed that the House ethics panel has recommended only a slap on the wrist for Rangel -- a formal reprimand.
Government watchdog groups and other critics ripped the proposed punishment -- the weakest in the House's arsenal -- as outrageously lenient given the severity of the allegations.

"The substantial number of violations against Congressman Rangel make a reprimand totally inappropriate. It's ridiculous," said Melanie Sloan, director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

The charges include failing to pay taxes on the villa he owned in the Dominican Republic; not reporting huge amounts of assets and income on his financial disclosure statements; improperly soliciting funds from entities with business before his committee to finance a "Charles Rangel Center" at CCNY; and receiving a rent-stabilized apartment that he improperly used as a campaign office.

The House ethics committee report showed that Rangel failed to report as much as $1.7 million in personal assets over the past 12 years.

That's much higher than previous estimates of less than $1 million based on the congressman's financial disclosure forms for 2002 to 2007.

Meanwhile, nervous Democratic Congress members are beginning to abandon Rangel's shaky ship.

Two -- John Yarmouth (Ky.) and Zack Space (Ohio) -- yesterday called on Rangel to resign.

But the head of the investigatory panel that conducted the two-year probe of Rangel revealed that they want to let him off with only a reprimand.

"The recommendation that we have is a reprimand," Rep. Gene Green (D-Texas) told reporters.

A reprimand would have to be approved by the full House ethics committee and then the House itself.

The light admonishment falls short of censure or expulsion from Congress and doesn't even require an apology.

The House voted down a bill to help 911 First Responders.

But, the Democrats who can’t run on Barack Obama’s agenda because the president (community organizer-in-chief) has an approval rating in the low 40s and falling fast, desperately needed something to take to back home to the voters for the summer recess.

So the Democrats fabricated a set-up for the voting of the 911 bill by requiring a 2/3 majority vote for passage instead of a simple majority of 50% plus one.

Thus, the deceitful Democrats knew all along that they wouldn’t get the 2/3 they needed, by design, to pin the blame on the Republicans.

This is what’s known in New York as a Charlie Rangel special screw.

The National Enquirer is reporting that with Ellen DeGeneres' abrupt departure from the show, sources say JENNIFER LOPEZ is close to inking a deal to be a judge on the declining star making show.

The superstar was close to signing, a source divulged after DeGeneres announced her sudden departure.yesterday."

“Jersey Shore” star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi was reportedly taken into police custody earlier today for disorderly conduct.



The pint-sized guidette was nabbed by police in Seaside Heights, NJ, at about 3:45 p.m., but the details of her arrest remain unclear, according to TMZ.com.



The celebrity gossip site also reported that Snooki was partying on the beach with a beer bong, but she was only filling it with Coca-Cola. She was also reportedly seen taking body shots at a local bar earlier in the day.



MyFoxPhilly.com reports she appeared to be intoxicated as she was taken away by police.



“She didn’t hurt anyone or get in a fight,” a source told People magazine's website. “She just needs to be in a drunk tank for two hours.”



A rep for the show declined to comment.

This isn’t the first time a member of the cast has been arrested while filming the hit reality TV show.









In season one last year, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro was taken into custody after punching a heckler in the street.



Snooki’s arrest comes one day after the season premiere of “Jersey Shore,” which became the most-watched cable television show of 2010, bringing in 5.3 million viewers

America's beloved pint-sized troublemaker Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, the breakout star of MTV's hit reality show "Jersey Shore," was arrested for disorderly conduct in her Seaside Heights roaming grounds yesterday while she was staggering around drunk, sources told The Post.



An intoxicated Snooki spent the day boozing on the New Jersey beach with cast members when her antics attracted the attention of cops.



Cameras were rolling for Season 3 of the insanely popular show -- which embraces "Guido" culture, hedonism and rock-hard abs -- for Snooki's embarrassing arrest at 3:30 p.m.

"She was drunk in public and had an argument with the officers," a source close to the cast told The Post. "This is 100 percent real, and not a set-up for the show."

The "guidette" was dressed in a tight pink leopard print tank top with the word "Slut" and an even tighter miniskirt that revealed the bottom of her buttocks.



One witness said: "She was on her knees and kept falling on the beach. People were laughing and taking pictures of her before the cops arrested her."

MTV spokeswoman Emily Yeomans declined to comment.



"When our police went to deal with the situation -- not Mike 'The Situation' -- they found the need to arrest her," Seaside Heights Borough Administrator John Camera told The Star-Ledger of Newark.



Camera said the 4-foot-9 Snooki had been "bothering" people not involved with the show.

Seaside Heights police said poof-sporting Polizzi was charged with disorderly conduct and was "under the influence."



"When she got in [the station house] she got a little better, but her behavior wasn't good," a source said.



She was issued a summons and was released.



Last night Snooki dined with housemates Jenny "JWOWW" Farley, and Dina at a swanky Italian restaurant. Afterwards, the trio strolled back to their house flanked by police.



Earlier, paparazzi snapped pictures of Snooki, 22, sitting on a bench and pouring liquid into a beer bong.

Police visited the home of Sogen Kato at the request of ward officials updating their list of centenarians ahead of Respect for the Elderly Day in September. Kato was born July 22, 1899, which would have made him 111.

Japanese welfare officials have tried to meet Kato since earlier this year, but his family members repeatedly chased them away, saying Kato was well but didn’t want to see anyone, said Tomoko Iwamatsu, an official at Tokyo’s downtown Adachi Ward, where Kato lived.

Officials grew suspicious and sought an investigation by police, who forced their way into the house Wednesday. Police said the mummified body believed to be Kato was lying in his bed, wearing underwear and pyjamas, covered with a blanket.

His granddaughter told investigators Kato holed up in his room about 30 years ago after declaring he wanted to be a living Buddha, police and Tokyo officials said. They believe Kato died soon after that.

Tokyo police were investigating possible crimes on suspicion Kato’s family received pension money of the man and his dead wife.
“His family must have known he has been dead all these years and acted as if nothing happened,” said Tokyo metropolitan welfare official Yutaka Muroi.

“It’s so eerie.”

And all because she has the audacity to believe what the Bible, and incidentally the Koran and Torah teaches, that homosexuality is immoral.

A federal judge has ruled in favor of a public university that removed a Christian student from its graduate program in school counseling over her belief that homosexuality is morally wrong.

Monday's ruling, according to Julea Ward's attorneys, could result in Christian students across the country being expelled from public university for similar views.

“It’s a very dangerous precedent,” Jeremy Tedesco, legal counsel for the conservative Alliance Defense Fund, told FOX News Radio.

“The ruling doesn’t say that explicitly, but that’s what is going to happen.”

U.S. District Judge George Caram Steeh dismissed Ward’s lawsuit against Eastern Michigan University. She was removed from the school’s counseling program last year because she refused to counsel homosexual clients.

The university contended she violated school policy and the American Counseling Association code of ethics.

“Christian students shouldn’t be expelled for holding to and abiding by their beliefs,” said ADF senior counsel David French. “To reach its decision, the court had to do something that’s never been done in federal court: uphold an extremely broad and vague university speech code.”

Eastern Michigan University hailed the decision.

“We are pleased that the court has upheld our position in this matter,” EMU spokesman Walter Kraft said in a written statement. “Julea Ward was not discriminated against because of her religion. To the contrary, Eastern Michigan is deeply committed to the education of our students and welcomes individuals from diverse backgrounds into our community.”

In his 48-page opinion, Judge Steeh said the university had a rational basis for adopting the ACA Code of Ethics.

“Furthermore, the university had a rational basis for requiring students to counsel clients without imposing their personal values,” he wrote in a portion of his ruling posted by The Detroit News.

“In the case of Ms. Ward, the university determined that she would never change her behavior and would consistently refuse to counsel clients on matters with which she was personally opposed due to her religious beliefs – including homosexual relationships.”

Ward’s attorneys claim the university told her she would only be allowed to remain in the program if she went through a “remediation” program so that she could “see the error of her ways” and change her belief system about homosexuality.

The case is similar to a lawsuit the ADF filed against Augusta State University in Georgia. Counseling student Jennifer Keeton was allegedly told to stop sharing her Christian beliefs in order to graduate.
Keeton's lawsuit alleged that she was told to undergo a reeducation program and attend “diversity sensitivity training.”

University officials declined to comment on specifics of the lawsuit but released a statement to FOX News that said Augusta State does not discriminate on the basis of students’ moral, religious, political or personal beliefs.

Tedesco said both cases should be a warning to Christians attending public colleges and universities.

The Alliance Defense Fund told FOX News it will appeal the ruling.

From California to New York state, Arizona’s illegal immigration law has been making headlines. In what is perhaps a last ditch effort, the state chose to enforce border security and stop criminality that comes with undocumented immigrants.

But last Friday residents thousands of miles away in New York witnessed something similar but quite different: an aggravated, disheveled, undocumented senior citizen.

70-year-old Representative Barney Frank, (D-MA) was heading out to New York’s Fire Island. The New York Post reported that the Massachusetts congressman failed to contain his exasperation when a ticket clerk at the local dock rejected his request for a $1 discount ferry
fare to the island. Frank did not possess the necessary Suffolk County Senior Citizens ID to take part. Something quite fascinating then unfolded.

The New York Post recounts a witness claiming that, “Frank made such a drama over the senior rate that I contemplated offering him the dollar to cool down the situation.”

One can imagine the horror of a Congressionally-pampered power broker confronted with a simple, everyday incident like this. Barney Frank lost his cool and that says it all.

And so the story unfolds. In many corners of our society a seemingly trivial incident like this from a man of such high authority would bring pause for no concern. Perhaps, instead – a laughing matter, or an excuse to muse over the representative’s strange proclivities, personality and arrogance.

But the story of the $1 discount fare points to much, much, more.

As Angelo M. Codevilla described in his stunning essay, America’s Ruling Class — And the Perils of Revolution, Barney Frank’s actions are emblematic of the ruling class mentality. Frank would not have objected more if the Sayville, New York dock clerk had shorted him $5 or even five cents. Either would have signaled a failure to recognize the ongressman’s ruling class authority and the power that thus brings over the public at large. It is through this prism of elitist thought that the ruling class and thus those like Frank, gaze upon the masses.

The ruling class disease of entrenched hubris and elitism has echoed the halls of the United States Congress for far too long and is the cause for many of the ills that we face now as a nation. In fact, it is a valid explanation for many aspects of the so-called ‘progressive’ agenda that simply do not make sense to many citizens.

Power begets corruption, corruption begets more lust for power, and powerful congressmen berate trivial, everyday life issues.

Sean Bell got shot trying to protect a frail old woman from being mugged on the subway.

Wait a minute, that’s not what happened.

Okay, how about this?

Sean Bell got gunned down trying to save a blind little boy from being kidnapped by a notorious and vile pedophile.

No wait, that didn’t happen either.

How about this?

Sean Bell got slain for trying to protect a stranger from being set on fire by a disreputable street gang.

By now you probably already know that neither of these things actually happened. However, each one of those scenarios would have been well deserving of receiving the high honor of having a street renamed in your memory for performing an unselfish and heroic act to safeguard his fellow man.

There is no greater love than giving one’s life for someone else, right?

Nevertheless, the New York City Council voted on a resolution to have a small stretch of a Queens street renamed after Sean Bell for attempting to run over New York City cops with his car while driving drunk.

Of course, the picture the Left paints of Sean Bell is quite different. To them, he was an innocent Black man that was tragically assassinated in a hail of 50 bullets by racist NYPD police in the early morning hours of his wedding day. That’s all the Left needed to perpetuate another fraud in their long line of frauds upon the public and imbued a common street thug into an angel of light.

The fact that Bell was twice arrested for dealing crack cocaine and weapons possession was society’s fault, not his.

That fact that Sean Bell’s companions were quite familiar with the criminal justice system along with Bell himself was truly an inconvenient truth.

The bitter reality was that Sean Bell was a thug that was hanging with his fellow thug friends at a seedy strip joint getting sloshed on Hennessey and enjoying lap dances galore before he took the plunge into matrimony that was only hours away from fruition.

But, we dare not say that young Bell acted stupidly for trying to use his motor vehicle as a deadly weapon, and got clipped for his trouble by public servants in the performance of their duties.

Is the Black community so bereft of legitimate heroes that White Liberal politicians think that Sean Bell is the best they can offer?
Or is this yet another cynical bone being thrown to Black folks by theses same Lib pols to fool the public come re-election time and hide the broken promises they’ve made year after year?

Sean Bell died a thug’s death!

Let’s make him a hero and name a street after him. And don’t forget to give me your vote, because you know I really care.

Dari empat novel sebelumnya, hanya Deception Point yang belum masuk koleksi pribadi saya. Pas nyari di Gramedia, katanya sedang kosong. Ya sudahlah, akhirnya saya membeli The Lost Symbol saja, yang edisi Bahasa Indonesia tentunya..hehe..

The Lost Symbol bercerita tentang petualangan Robert Langdon, sang profesor simbol kebanggaan Harvard University. Ini merupakan petualangan ketiganya setelah di Vatikan (Angels and Demons) dan Paris (The Da Vinci Code). Kali ini latar belakang cerita mengambil setting ibukota Amerika Serikat, Washington DC, dengan fokus utama membahas freemasonry.

Seperti pada novel-novel sebelumnya (yang sudah saya baca), Dan Brown kembali bermain dengan waktu dalam novel terbarunya ini. Alur berjalan cepat dari satu cerita ke cerita lainnya. Puzzle-puzzle ini kemudian dihubungkan satu persatu dalam petualangan semalam Profesor Langdon.

Disebutkan bahwa salah satu sahabat Langdon, Peter Solomon, merupakan anggota freemasonry derajat tertinggi (derajat ke-33). Atas undangan sahabatnya itu, Langdon terbang dari Harvard ke Washington untuk memberikan ceramah di acara persaudaraan mason. Namun, ternyata acara tersebut tidak pernah ada. Fake invitation. Sebuah undangan palsu dari penculik Peter Solomon untuk memaksa Langdon memecahkan kode-kode menuju rahasia terbesar freemasonry, yang konon terletak di Washington. Langdon harus membantu si penculik demi menyelamatkan nyawa sang sahabat. Maka, petualangan Langdon pun dimulai.
